My Room-1Posted by Paul Ricciardi (Rock Hill, United States) on 5 February 2007 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio. So I've been doing series of all sorts of things lately and figured, hey, I live in a room, I sleep in a room, why not photograph my room. Actually, I'm lying to you totally. I didn't plan this out at all. All I know is that yesterday morning I had just woken up and the light was terrific coming through my window. So I grabbed a camera and started shooting. I wanted to do some low key/high grain shots. I've been really getting into exposure lately. I know that sounds a bit corny, but I've really been playing with my exposure, perfecting it, and learning how the get the mood I want from my shots. I'm relying less and less on a light meter or aperture priority and more and more on my head and fully manual. Which is why I'm progressing more and more to cameras with no light meter or AP mode. In any event, my room is very very very small, maybe 5'x8'...so doing a series without it all looking the same was tough. I've got a bed, a bedside table, a lamp on it, and then a chair covered in cameras, film, etc. And then, of course, more photography stuff on the floor in addition to my "library" of books. Plus poetry, paintings, and drawings scattered around where I could fit it. So, here we go, a look into my life! Lol. Tell me what you think. Oh, and 10 bonus points in the game of life to whoever can guess the camera on the bed. And, another thing, I really didn't want to blow out the light coming through my window, but I had to in order to expose the room. But that's ok I guess.
