Self Portrait, Sleeping Mother

I have this thing for photos that are at once poetic and lonely. Photos that carry with them a weight in narration and a quality of poignant storytelling appeal to me on both an artistic and emotional level. Thus, many of my photos here on the blog I attempt to imbue with that sense of grey, melancholy story;that's why I write as much as I do. However I always want to leave the story open to some degree. I try not to act as a storyteller, per se, but more as a catalyst to the storyteller that lies within each and every one of us. My goal is not to tell you a complete story, but, instead, to give you the sparkling, shining, fragile shards of a narrative and let you piece them together in your head.

And once pieced together, you'll find that there are gaping holes in this yarn that I spin for you. And that's exactly how it should be. Fill in the blanks, colour the pages of the colouring book, but don't feel like you have to stay in the lines.
