Go By Train

Planes are nice and all, but there’s just something about trains that I love. If you guys haven’t noticed, I’m not a big fan of the modern, fast paced, instant gratification society we live in. I prefer my life to be slow yet spontaneous. I like to live by my heart not my wallet or my watch.

An airplane might be faster, but trains are, as far as I’m concerned, the superior mode of transportation, not so much for the speed as the experience.
They might take a while longer but you get a unique view of the landscape.

You can take a moment to have some peace.
Read a book.
Write a poem.
Sketch.
Listen to an old Doors album you haven’t played in 30 years even if you have it on CD now.
Think about the old vinyl 33 &1/3 the album was on originally.
Just let your body attune itself to the natural sway and silent noise of the train car’s motion and oscillation as it chugs its way across the landscape.
Actually talk to people.
