Jealousy Drooping
Posted by Paul Ricciardi (Rock Hill, United States) on 19 November 2006 in Plant & Nature.
I find myself jealous of other photographers often. Right now I'm stuck in the suburbs of the deep south, a place where there are very few cities and where you have to drive a good 30 or 45 minutes to get to the country. And once you're there, people regard you as "one of those liberal hippie artistic types."
The "cities" around here, unless you go to Atlanta or Charlotte (both 2-3 hour drives for me) aren't really cities, more like glorified towns.
In other words, there's nothing to photograph around here, none of the ecclectic, cultural, urban scenes one can find in a city and none of the striking natural, pastoral, or idyllic scenes one finds in the country. And I can't afford to go anywhere else.
Thus I'm stuck finding random banal things to take pictures of and attempt to make them artistic. Or something like that. The chairs yesterday turned out well, I'm not too sure about this though.
I think you see now why I prefer 2d art, I can make whatever I want, I'm not limited by what's around me. It's an escape.
